Webinar Title and Description: Minds Matter: Seeing Concussion Through New Eyes - Concussion is a common childhood injury that affects 1.4 million children and adolescents nationwide each year. Many of these concussions happen during sports or other recreational activities, and patients can experience difficulty reading, blurred vision, trouble focusing, and eye fatigue as possible symptoms. This webinar will review advances in assessing and recognizing visio-vestibular deficits after concussion in children and discuss their implications for active management strategies after injury, as well as the role of rehabilitation in those with persisting symptoms.

Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:  

  1. Identify common visio-vestibular deficits following a concussion using a targeted history and physical examination.
  2. Define the implications of visio-vestibular deficits for return to physical activity and school.
  3. Design an active management plan for recovery.
  4. Describe the importance and role for rehabilitation for persisting concussion symptoms.
  5. Analyze the emerging understanding of the underlying physiological basis for concussion from objective measures.

Successful Completion: Participants will be present during the live webinar in its entirety and complete an attendance verification and assessment in the Academy Learning Portal within one month of the live air date.
