Fall Prevention Update: New Interventions & Technologies to Address Fall Prevention at Home & in the Hospital
Description: Despite decades of research, falls remain a critical public health issue affecting nearly one in every three older adults annually. This webinar will present a research update on fall prevention strategies and new technologies including remote monitoring, virtual reality/augmented reality apps and balance measurement platforms. Of particular focus will be on implementation of these strategies in the outpatient clinic, in the hospital and at the patient's home.
Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate new technologies for fall prevention that can be implemented in therapy sessions or in the home setting
- Describe research guidelines for effective balance and fall prevention interventions
- Examine fall prevention strategies for improving patient safety in hospital and clinic settings
