Clinical Trial

Determining the biomechanical deficits in individuals with chronic ankle instability

IRB Protocol Number STU00215245

Contact

Zoe Villamar Zoevillamar2018@u.northwestern.edu

Objective

This study is looking for healthy people who have had an ankle sprain or instability in the past to study: 1) to estimate how load stabilizes the ankle and 2) to estimate how muscle contraction stabilizes the ankle. You may be participating in experiments satisfying one or both objectives. This will increase our understanding of why individuals experience chronic ankle instability.

Participants will be asked to sit while a motor moves their ankle under conditions of load, muscle relaxation, and muscle contraction.

Who Can Participate

A history of one significant ankle sprain that resulted in at least one interrupted day of desired physical activity AND you experience recurrent sprains AND/OR you have a history of the ankle “giving way” or feeling unstable. 18 – 35 years old; No history of lower extremity surgery; No history of fracture in the lower extremity that required realignment; No current or history of orthopedic diagnosis to the lower extremity (ex: Achilles tendinopathy, Achilles tendon rupture); Available to come to the SRALab for two 2- hour sessions.

Compensation

$30 will be provided for each session.

Age Range

18-35

嫩B研究院 Survey: Answer questions about your experience receiving Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS)

The purpose of this study is to test a set of surveys designed to determine if Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) are person-centered. Person-centered HCBS are based on what is important to the person receiving the services and are designed to help the recipient live the life they want to live. In order to determine if HCBS are person-centered, a set of surveys has been developed to measure the person-centeredness (or not) of HCBS. You will be helping to see if the surveys measure what they are intended to measure.
You will be asked questions about your daily life and your experience using HCBS.
