About Me

Akilah Townsend has been practicing as a physical therapist since 2013. Though she primarily treats in an outpatient setting, she has experience in acute care, skilled nursing, and home health. She became a member of the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab Burr Ridge Outpatient Center team in 2018. In 2019, she became competent with lower extremity serial casting. Akilah treats a variety of patients including pediatric, geriatric, orthopedic and those with neurologic conditions. She enjoys treating a range of disorders and conditions but takes a special interest in Parkinson¡¯s disease and stroke patients. She is currently a member of a team of therapists who focus on recently diagnosed Parkinson¡¯s patients and delivering physical therapy in a proactive model.
