About Me
A board-certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy (OCS), Steven Jackson directs Shirley Ryan 嫩B研究院’s Outpatient Therapy Services with a combination of clinical expertise, passion for academic medicine and leadership experience.
Dr. Jackson has more than 15 years of progressive management experience, most recently as Director of Rehabilitation Services at Orange Park Medical Center outside Jacksonville, Fla. He has managed acute care therapy teams, outpatient therapy teams and inpatient rehabilitation teams.
While on faculty for the University of Chicago Post Professional Orthopedic Residency Program, Dr. Jackson contributed to the development of lectures on anatomy, pathophysiology, biomechanics, examination, surgical interventions and phases of rehabilitation, and presented those lectures to all resident specialties — including orthopedics, pediatrics and occupational therapy, as well as the Critical Care Fellowship. He also ran biomechanics and video gait analysis for the orthopedic curriculum.
Dr. Jackson’s research has been published in well-respected peer-reviewed journals. His doctoral thesis focused on the prediction and prevention of repetitive stress injuries in recreational runners. Additional research interests include investigating other athletic populations at risk for repetitive stress injury (to improve injury prevention), using functional outcome measure reporting in appraising the effectiveness of physical therapy interventions, and the effects of psychosocial, educational and socioeconomic covariates on functional outcome measures.
Dr. Jackson received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Jacksonville University, his Master of Physical Therapy from the University of North Florida, and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University.
