The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) today announced an eight-figure gift from Mike and Lindy Keiser.

The gift — the amount of which is confidential — has been directed to the capital campaign for the 嫩B研究院, RIC’s state-of-the-art research hospital, set to open in early 2017. The $550 million, 1.2-million-square-foot 嫩B研究院 will be the first-ever “translational” research hospital, where physicians, clinicians, scientists, researchers, innovators and technologists will be embedded in the same space, surrounding every patient, and applying (or “translating”) research real time, 24/7.

I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of RIC’s game-changing research and unparalleled care, and am thrilled to contribute to the new hospital, which will bring even better, faster recoveries for patients.

“RIC is honored and inspired by this extraordinary gift,” said Joanne C. Smith, M.D., RIC president and CEO. “Mike and Lindy have long been RIC ambassadors, bringing ‘blue-sky’ entrepreneurial thinking to their board leadership. Now, their stunning generosity will help propel RIC forward as we redefine the way healthcare is delivered.”

Mike owns Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, a renowned international destination. Both Mike and Lindy support numerous civic and charitable organizations in Chicago and beyond. Lindy’s advocacy for RIC stretches back decades to 1989, when she joined the Women’s Board. Mike’s involvement began in 1996, when he joined the Governing Board, chairing from 2006 to 2008.

“RIC is a world-class institution,” said Mike Keiser. “It’s the undisputed leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation and — best of all — it’s in our backyard. I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of RIC’s game-changing research and unparalleled care, and am thrilled to contribute to the new hospital, which will bring even better, faster recoveries for patients.”
