Purpose
Body
The primary goal our research is to develop new techniques and devices to facilitate functional use of the hand after stroke. Toward this end we are investigating the underlying sensorimotor control of the hand, the changes that occur after stroke, and the factors that influence rehabilitation.
Clinical Significance
Body
Our research furthers understanding of neural mechanisms that control the hand and of specific sources of hand impairment common after stroke. We are using this information to guide the development of rehabilitation devices and strategies that will hopefully improve recovery of hand function for stroke survivors.
